Dramatic buns and ladylike make-up @ Carolina Herrera AW14

At Carolina Herrera, Orlando Pita working with Biosilk, created dramatic buns. Inspired by the fez-like hats in the collection, these elaborated updos were built around pieces of net stuffing and had little flowers of hair in the top. The key products used to achieve this extremely difficult updo were Biosilk serum, which was applied to the hair comprising the rosettes on top, and plenty of Biosilk Finishing Firm Hold Spray.

Makeup artist Diane Kendal accomplished a ladylike makeup, suitable for day&night. First of all she evened out the skin tone with a sheer foundation and then she used two highlighters on the top of the cheekbone and underneath the brow bone to catch the light. The eyes were treated very softly using a shimmery beige eye shadow and a slightly darker beige to contour, and then were outlined with MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and a darker shadow was added over the beiges to create something slightly smoky. Brows were defined and filled in while mascara was skipped (why everyone is doing it?). Eventually Kendall painted the lips with MAC Boysenberry Lip Color (due out this fall), a sheer purple shade that she blotted away with a tissue for a very muted, soft stain.

Nail stylist Michelle Saunders for Essie used the brand’s most popular shade, Ballet Slipper, a pale pink that was defined by Herrera as the perfect color for her season.

L’hairstyle, creato da Orlando Pita per Biosilk, si ispira ai cappelli simil-fez portati in passerella ed è un’opera d’arte fatta di capelli avvolti intorno a imbottiture ad hoc e attorcigliati sulla sommità a sembrare un bouquet di fiori. Per ottenere questo risultato Pita ha usato due prodotti chiave: il serum di Biosilk, che ha applicato su tutta l’acconciatura prima e dopo, e una quantità industriale di Biosilk Finishing Firm Hold Spray, per mantenere gli updos al loro posto.

Il makeup, ideato da Diane Kendal per MAC Cosmetics, è molto signorile ed è perfetto sia per il giorno sia per la sera. La pelle è stata uniformata con un fondotinta trasparente e Kendall ha poi aggiunto due punti luce strategici, uno sugli zigomi e uno sotto l’arcata sopracciliare. Approccio soft per gli occhi fatti da una base beige sfumata appena con due tonalità più scure per ottenere uno smoky eye sottotono che è stato poi delineato poi da una linea di MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack. Le sopracciglia sono state definite e il mascara evitato (step che in questa FW stanno saltando in molti). Infine, per le labbra Kendall ha voluto qualcosa di tenue e soft: una passata di MAC Boysenberry Lip Color (una sfumatura trasparente di viola che uscirà il prossimo inverno) che ha poi tamponato con un fazzoletto.

Per le unghie Michelle Saunders per Essie ha usato la sfumatura più famosa del brand, Ballet Slipper, un rosa chiaro che Carolina Herrera ha definito perfetto per la sua collezione. Sta, infatti, bene a tutti i toni di pelle.
