How to Strobe like a Pro

Looking for a shimmery and dewy summer glow? Jump one the strobing bandwagon to accentuate your features with just a hint of highlighter.
The time to say goodbye to contouring couldn’t be better (summer, finally!) so start hoarding all the highlighters you can find (creamy, powdery, shimmery, opalescent etc.) and learn with me and Make Up For Ever makeup artist which is the best way to create the look.
To start, prep your skin with a primer. The best one for my complexion turned out to be the Step 1 Skin Equalizer in peach, a color correcting base that transforms radiance levels and bring more hydration and light to the face. You can apply it with your finger or with a foundation brush for a professional finish. Then, with the same brush, apply the Face & Body Foundation from the center of your face, outwards. The Face & Body Foundation is perfect to create a strobing base because of its gel texture that delivers a natural and smooth dewy finish that wonderfully matches the highlighting (and suits all skin types). Indeed, you can strobe using the same Face & Body in a lighter shade mixing it with a Star Powder (I choose the Iridescent Neutral Beige 946) and applying it in the highest point of your face, those where the light should catch (bridge of the nose, center of the forehead, cheekbones, above and under the brow bones and cupid’s bow). Before this light-catching mix dries, bend it seamlessly. Now, check the result and if you want to accentuate the strobing effect apply a hint of Star Powder where needed, i.e. you can stress the C-shape around your eyes, from the cheekbone to the brow bone, applying the Star Powder with a 8 movement to perfectly blend it (check it out in the video tutorial).
Strobing is done. Easy, uh?
Now, even if your face is glowing you may want to finish your makeup in the best way ever, which for summer is the waterproof one. Make Up For Ever is an expert in the field and with its Aqua collection offers a variety of product that are truly water and heat proof.
Since I was wearing a white dress with orange details Make Up For Ever makeup artist decided to match my face with my outfit and opted for a orangey-shaded look.
She started from the cheeks, using the eyeshadow Artist Shadow Satiny Finish in S-748 as a blush and applying it with the same 8 movement she used for the highlighter. Then she moved on the eyes, applying the Aqua Matic in D-708 - a chameleonic orange that suits all the complexions - only on my lids and emphasizing it with the Artist Shadow Diamond Finish in D-708, a similar hue. To recall the strobing game she highlighted the inner corner of my eyes and the lower waterline with the Aqua Matic in S-52, a pro trick that I’ve always used to counter the look of fatigue. To make the eyes pop she underlined both the lash lines with the Aqua Eyes in 25L and used the Smoky Extravagant Waterproof mascara on the lashes, brushing them with circular movements for a striking yet natural finish (check the tutorial). As for the eyebrows she filled them in with Aqua Brow in 25, drawing the shape with the angular brush 274.
To finish the look, she outlined the lips with the Aqua Lip in 2 C and she opted for the Rouge Artist Natural lipstick in 35.
Here we go, a quick and foolproof summer look that pleases everyone!
Siete alla ricerca di un look estivo che sia radioso e dewy al tempo stesso? Provate con lo strobing, la nuova tendenza in fatto di makeup che si avvale di un pizzico di highlighter per tirare fuori il meglio dai vostri tratti somatici. Il tutto in poco tempo e zero sforzi.
Non c’è che dire, il tempo di dire addio al contouring non poteva essere migliore (benvenuta estate!), cominciate quindi a fare scorta di illuminatori (in crema, in polvere, luccicanti, opalescenti etc.) e imparate con me e Make Up For Ever qual è il modo migliore per creare il look dell’estate.
Per iniziare, preparate la pelle con un primer. Il migliore per la mia carnagione è risultato essere lo Step 1 Skin Equalizer nella tonalità pesca, una base correttiva del colore che trasforma i livelli di idratazione per portare più luce al viso. Applicatelo con le dita o con un pennello per fondotinta per un finish professionale. Poi, usando lo stesso pennello, applicate il fondotinta Face & Body dal centro del viso verso l'esterno. Il Face & Body è perfetto per creare una base strobing in quanto è adatto a tutti i tipi di pelle (anche quelle con problemi) e la sua texture in gel offre un finish dewy naturale che va meravigliosamente in pendant con l’highlighter. Infatti, per un effetto strobing impeccabile, non c’è niente di meglio che utilizzare lo stesso Face & Body in una tonalità più chiara della vostra carnagione mescolandolo con una Star Powder (io ho scelto l’Iridescent Neutral Beige 946) e applicarlo poi sui punti più sporgenti del viso come la punta del naso, il centro della fronte, gli zigomi, l’arcata sopracciliare, l’arco di Cupido e il mento. Prima che il tutto asciughi, sfumate alla perfezione per scongiurare linee di giuntura poco belle da vedere. Detto ciò, non resta che controllare il risultato e, se si vuole accentuare l'effetto strobing, basta applicare con mano leggera un pizzico di Star Powder dove serve. Ad esempio, si può sottolineare la forma a C intorno agli occhi (dallo zigomo all’arcata sopracciliare) applicando la Star Powder con un movimento ad 8 che fonde perfettamente il prodotto con la pelle (vedi video tutorial).
Detto, fatto. Il vostro effetto strobing è finito. Facile, eh?
Ora, anche se il viso è impeccabilmente glowy, vorrete anche finire il trucco e perché no, optare per una soluzione waterproof in linea con l’estate. Si dà il caso che Make Up For Ever sia un esperto in materia e che con la sua collezione Aqua offra una varietà di prodotti che sono veramente a prova di acqua, umidità e calore.
Ecco, quindi, come continuare. Io ho optato per un makeup nei toni dell’arancio ma voi potete utilizzare gli stessi prodotti in altre tonalità, potreste rimanere sorpresi dalla gamma di colori che Make Up For Ever ha da offrire.
Iniziate dalle guance e, utilizzando l'ombretto Artist Shadow Satiny Finish S-748 come un blush applicatelo con lo stesso movimento 8 usato prima per mettere in risalto gli zigomi. Poi passate agli occhi e applicate il matitone Aqua Matic D-708 - un arancio camaleontico che si adatta a tutte le carnagioni - solo sulle palpebre mobili e sottolineatelo con l’Artist Shadow Diamond Finish D-708. Per richiamare l’effetto strobing illuminate poi l'angolo interno degli occhi e la rima interna inferiore con l'Aqua Matic S-52, un trucco da professionista che adoro per scongiurare lo sguardo stanco. Poi, per mettere in risalto gli occhi, sottolineate l’attaccatura delle ciglia sia sopra sia sotto con la matita Aqua Eyes 25L, partendo dal centro dell’occhio verso l’esterno, e usate infine il mascara Smoky Extravagant Waterproof sulle ciglia, spazzolandole con movimenti circolari per una finitura naturale, ma sorprendente (vedi video tutorial). Per quanto riguarda le sopracciglia, riempitele e delineatele con Aqua Brow 25e il pennello angolare 274.
Per completare il look, date un tocco di colore alle labbra con il Rouge Artist Natural 35 e create prima una base a prova di bacio con la matita Aqua Lip in 2C.
Eccolo, un look estivo rapido e infallibile che dona a tutte!
