The reverse cat-eye
Ribaltare il cat-eye. Un’idea innovativa per il trucco decisamente moderno che ha sfilato sulla passerella della PE 2104 di Missoni. Ideato da Lucia Pieroni per Mac Cosmetics è caratterizzato da una forma arrotondata che asseconda l’occhio ma, invece di portare la virgola all’esterno, questo trucco mette l’accento sull’angolo interno, andando a sottolineare il condotto lacrimale. Geniale, moderno e bold. Purtroppo non tanto facile da ricreare ma, con un po’ di pazienza, tanto esercizio e il giusto eyeliner tutto è possibile.
Prima di tutto la base. In passerella il focus era ovviamente sull’occhio quindi il resto del makeup è stato tenuto sottotono. Personalmente mi sono limitata ad uniformare la pelle con il Mineral Radiance UV Defence SPF50 Universal Tint di Skinceuticals e a correggere i difetti con il Secret Camouflage di Laura Mercier. Per preparare l’occhio ho usato il Tinted Eye Brightener di Bobbi Brown e per dare un tocco di luminosità ho applicato il Dior Glow Maximizer sugli zigomi.
Dopo aver testato più eyeliner ho scelto di usare il Magic Marc’er in Blaquer di Marc Jacobs per tre motivi: uno, ha un pennino sottile e precisissimo; due, la sua formula liquida scivola facilmente senza però scappare; e tre il suo punto di forza, il colore, un nero assoluto ma brillante che spacca l’obiettivo.
Ora arriva il bello. Appoggiando il gomito al piano del trucco ho cominciato a disegnare una linea abbastanza spessa partendo dall’angolo esterno dell’occhio, continuando lungo la rima superiore delle ciglia e finendo vicino al condotto lacrimale. Da qui ho continuato a disegnare girando intorno al condotto e finendo a un quarto della rima inferiore delle ciglia, con un tratto che da spesso ho assottigliato sempre più fino a farlo sparire. Per finire ho enfatizzato la virgola all’interno dell’occhio usando la punta dell’eyeliner.
Non facile ma neanche impossibile. Voi, che ne pensate?

I totally adore eyeliners and I’ve been experimenting for a long time trying to create both the perfect minimalistic take and the impeccable cat eye testing different formulas (from gels, cakes and liquid) and brands. Right now I fell in love with the new modern reversed cat eye seen at Missoni SS14. Created by make up artist Lucia Pieroni it is defined by a rounded-down shape and it is meant to highlight the inner corner of the eye.
To achieve the result seen on the catwalk I began prepping my skin with Skinceuticals Mineral Radiance UV Defence SPF50 in Universal Tint, a coloured base that even out the skin tone protecting it from the sun. I skipped the foundation but since this look is built upon a flawless base I used Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage on any blemishes and Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener under the eyes.
Then, to keep the overall look natural but with a healthy glow, I applied a hint of Dior Glow Maximizer onto the cheekbones.
Now hold your breath and keep your hand steady. Drawing the perfect reverse cat eye line takes time and effort but, you we’ll see, it will totally worth it. Using Marc Jacobs Magic Marc’er in Blaquer I drew a thick line right along the upper lashes, starting from the outer corner of the eye and ending it near the tear duct. Then I continued painting around the tear duct section going a bit along the bottom lash line, blending the end since it faded. Next, I drew a sharp point angling out from the tear duct using the pointed tip of Magic Marc’er.
I choose to use Marc Jacobs eyeliner because it is waterproof (fundamental since we work near the tear duct) and because its black is the shiniest and blackest shade on the market. Being it so bold I didn’t need to use the mascara and the final look is clean, minimalistic yet edgy.
